Research
The research program in our department is focused on elucidation of the relations between formation, structure and physical properties of synthetic macromolecules and the systems composed of them (polymer networks, block and statistical copolymers, composites, organic-anorganic hybrids, ...). The program also contains study of semiconductor materials for solar energy conversion. The research projects are realised in cooperation with institutes of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and foreign universities (see Macromolecular WWW sites). The main scientific projects are running in the following areas:
- Polymer networks
- Hydrogels
- Liquid-crystalline polymers
- Molecular modelling of polymer structures
- Excitation energy transfer in polymers
- Spectroscopic characterisation of macromolecular layer structures
- Plasma polymerization processes for surface modification
- Micro- and nanocomposite materials: metal or semiconductor embeded in plasma polymer matrix
- Conductive polymers and semiconductors
- Electric and photoelectric properties of materials
- The study of the coil-globule transition in polymer solutions
